A corporate event on a warship!

Event Brief

We received the brief for this event while in a lift… long story but read our blog to find out more! Our client was organising an end-of-year celebration for their department and wasn’t sure where to start; he had initially put the choice of venue to his team, and ‘boat party’ came out as the winner. Lucky for him, we have many corporate event ideas!  Our client began to search for venues on his own and could only come up with the standard party boat, but as it was such an important event to thank a full department for a years’ worth of work this wouldn’t do. He came across our free venue finding service so popped over a brief then sat back and waited for our suggestions!

Delivering the brief

After chatting through the event with the client; getting to know them, their brand, the guests and what the aim of the event was, we started our search to find the perfect venue! After checking availability and rates with venues we knew would work perfectly for this event, we put together a proposal of five sites ranging from a luxury yacht to a rooftop bar in Shoreditch; our wild-card venue! The client’s firm favourite was the HMS Belfast – he couldn’t believe you could host a corporate event on the famous warship and agreed it would be perfect for the occasion they had in mind!  We arranged a site visit and visited the venue with the client to walk through how the event would work. The site visit secured their decision, and the venue booked!

Confirmation of the venue is where our free venue finding service ends. Still, as our client is an associate at a leading Professional Services firm, he didn’t have much spare time or the experience to organise a corporate event so opted to use our event management services too.

The aim of the event was simple; treat the guests to plenty of food and drinks while making them feel like VIPs for the evening… something we are great at if we may say so ourselves! Guests arrived on to the HMS Belfast on a beautiful summer’s evening, with a 360-degree view of London surrounding them, greeted with a chilled glass of champagne. 1920’s music played to entwine the history of the venue into the evening, and tours of the museum on the ship were available. Guests enjoyed a delicious menu including smoked salmon with cucumber gel, pink peppercorn and rye bread, and rare roast beef with mustard butter, crispy shallots and horseradish scones, followed by summery desserts, before dancing the night away with the London skyline as their backdrop.

Outcome

Guests had a night to remember, really feeling rewarded by their company for their year of hard work. They had photos with a stunning background, and a story to tell about the night they partied on a warship! The event was a success for our client, and they had the following to say:
