Shrek Themed Brunch

When we get a brief for an event that uses terms such as ‘colourful’, ‘trees’, ‘brunch food’ and ‘fun’ we get very excited! We were tasked with organising a weird and wonderful Shrek themed brunch for VIP children and their parents in a blank canvas Central London Venue, and what fun it was! With the brief in hand, we started to collate all we could find about Shrek and brunches, and went to the client with two options; a medieval banquet or a magical swamp brunch. The medieval banquet was trumped by the swamp idea, so off we went to plan an immersive and memorable event!

Food

The ever-creative Food by Dish produced a bespoke Shrek-inspired menu and guests were kept entertained with an interactive waffle station, with homemade waffles and a variety of toppings. If that wasn’t enough, there was also a homemade gingerbread man station on offer, with a variety of colourful decorations for guests to design their very own ‘Gingy’.

Guests were treated to kid-friendly swamp juice on arrival, served in jam jars with green straws (of course!). Brunch was served and included mini fruit skewers, Welsh smoked bacon and Cumberland sausage in a savoury muffin, and mini smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels. A variety of different flavoured and coloured mini bug jellies were served on faux grass canapé trays.

Theming

We worked with the ever creative and efficient Partridge Events, to turn the venue in to a magical swamp. Having worked on the launches of the original films, Partridge Events were probably the best team we could have enlisted to do the task and they were confident with how to transform the venue to suit the brief. Partridge created the swamp using greenery for window coverings, green carpet and a life sized tree with hanging baskets for sweets! It looked MAGICAL.

The Event

Guests arrived at the event and embarked on their misadventure throughout the experience, welcomed with swamp juice and jelly bugs – yum! Guests enjoyed the magical swamp scene whilst creating their own waffles or gingerbread men, enjoying the brunch menu and taking sweets from the swamp tree. Guests left with an experience they will never forget.

The event was a huge success for the client and they were pleased with the event we delivered; “an ogre-sized pat on the back to each of you for starring in yesterday’s event. It was a pretty slick operation and magical event setting.”
