2018 saw Notting Hill Carnival celebrate its 59th birthday as a hallmark of London Culture. Attracting 2 million visitors each year, it’s renowned as the largest street party in Europe hosting a whopping 70 plus masquerade floats in the streets of London. With a reported 25,000 bottles of rum expected to have been consumed over carnival weekend I can see why it’s the street party not to be missed! Our friends at Full Circle have given us their take on the best ways to create a carnival themed event. Over to you guys…
Carnival Dancers
Notting Hill Carnival is a riot of colour and audio, a full-on assault on the senses bringing the West Indies to West London. These Carnival dancers in full regalia would be our first call for some after dinner entertainment to bring any event alive.

Summer Steel Pan group
The warm sound of a steel pan collective is synonymous with the internationally renowned West London carnival. A thoroughly acoustic solution to the dub laden frequencies of the function one sound systems- classical pieces mingle alongside modern tracks to create a thoroughly west Indian soundscape.

David ‘Ram Jam’ Rodigan MBE
As a Show closer, we can’t think of anything better than a dub plate laden set from Reggae legend, David Rodigan. The original sound clash champion and selector, his record collection is the envy of DJ’s the world over selection. Give him some signal.

Theming and Furniture
FullCircle has a huge collection of vintage items and unique dressing pieces for any occasion. For a Notting Hill Carnival themed event we would suggest colour, colour and more colour. Vivid chesterfields in tropical hues, upcycled steel drum poseur tables and bedecked rustic street food frontages painted with white washed timber would go down a treat! Colorful bunting and festoon lighting would provide a cost-effective solution whilst a large tropical floristry ‘living wall’ would provide the perfect photo opp!

Thanks guys – that’s really got my carnival juices flowing and I can’t wait to get cracking on my next fully themed event. I would definitely recommend the amazing team at Full Circle to create a fully themed and immersive event – they can bring any vision to life!
