Top Team Building Activity Bars for 2022
Over the last couple of years, we’ve all seen colleagues less than ever before, and you may have new team members you haven’t even met face-to-face. For the most part, work socials and team away days have been held remotely through computer screens. Whilst there have been some genuinely brilliant ways to connect virtually (gin-tasting, horse-racing, you name it), there’s nothing quite like getting together face-to-face. With offices and hospitality opening up again, it’s a great time to do something a bit different as a team. Why not book into an activity bar – the combination of a fun atmosphere, quirky and unique experiences with a healthy dose of competition is perfect for team bonding. I’ve picked out some of my favourites:
Location: Moorgate, London
Have you ever imagined you could go clay pigeon shooting in the heart of London? Neither had I. However, with their thrilling, interactive clay target action on huge digital screens, Clays have made it possible. Take a shot at one of London’s newest activity bars whilst enjoying great food and refreshing cocktails. Plus, you can relive the best bits of the action with photos and videos captured during your session sent to you for sharing.
💜 Group size: Up to 20 per semi-private booth, up to 360 for private hire.
Locations: London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds and Bristol
One of my ultimate favourites (not just because I won!), Flight Club has revolutionised darts and taken it to a whole new level of excitement and fun. See who can hit their targets with the fast-paced, interactive and super-competitive games. With automated scoring and an on-screen leader board, alongside incredible pizzas and sharing platters, it darts at its very best.
💜 Group size: Up to 40 per semi-private area, up to 650 for private hire, depending on location.
Location: Tower Hill, London
Axe throwing might not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of team building, but it should be. Learn the unique new skill with expert instructors and then battle it out in a thrilling tournament against your colleagues as you fling the axe to see who can slam the most bullseyes. Is your team working on a big project or to a tight deadline? This could be the ultimate stress-reliever!
💜 Group size: Up to 8 per lane. 32 for a large party.
Locations: London Bridge and Canary Wharf, London
The team behind Flight Club have done it again – they’ve taken a traditional game and super-charged it with modern technology, quirky décor, mouth-watering menus and delicious cocktails. Your group is split into two teams and go head to head as you slide your pucks into the scoring zone in outrageously gripping games of shuffleboard.
💜 Group size: Up to 16 per shuffle table, up to 350 for private hire.
Locations: City of London and Oxford Street, London
I couldn’t put together a list of my favourite activity bars without mentioning Swingers. Perhaps one of the first on the scene, it has led the way in combining theatrical décor, insanely good food and drinks, and enormously fun and competitive entertainment. With bespoke 9-hole crazy golf courses, cocktail bars, street food vendors and private hire spaces, it’s still one of the best activity bars to visit with your team.
💜 Group size: Up to 600 for private hire.
Locations: London, Manchester and Birmingham
Sixes is the world’s first social entertainment cricket venue, bringing the quintessentially English game to city centre locations. You can test your batting skills against some of the world’s finest bowlers as you compete with your colleagues on a global leader board. Don’t worry, the balls are soft and can be adapted depending on your skill level, so it really is a game for everyone. In addition, you won’t want to miss their British-BBQ inspired menu.
💜 Group size: Up to 15 per batting net.
Location: The O2, London
Kick-off your next team social at another world first. Toca Social combines tech-fuelled, interactive football with world-class food and drink. Each player selects their level of play and pairs up on the pitch if more than six of you. Compete against your colleagues to see who can hit the most targets in this energetic game. Afterwards, don’t forget to head to the Dessert room for the sweet taste of victory.
💜 Group size: Up to 12 per box, up to 400 for private hire.
Location: Shoreditch, London
Located in the heart of Shoreditch, the London Shuffle Club is the only UK venue with both lane and table shuffle under one roof plus two outdoor lanes. Often described as a cross between ten-pin bowling and curling, Shuffleboard is ridiculously addictive – Henry VIII apparently banned it for being too distracting! Add delicious pizzas and top-class cocktails, along with fire pits, and you’ll be winning at team-building.
💜 Group size: Up to 8 per lane/table, up to 480 for private hire.
Location: Chancery Lane, London
If you and your colleagues enjoy the finer things in life, transport yourselves to the sun-kissed Riviera at Baranis, boasting the only indoor Pétanque court in the UK. Play in two teams of one, two or three and see who can get their boules closest to the cochonnet. Don’t be fooled by the relaxed and chic atmosphere – it’s an exciting game that makes for fierce competition!
💜 Group size: Up to 6 per game, up to 120 for private hire.
Location: Wandsworth, London
If you can’t decide on just one activity bar, understandably, they’re all ridiculously brilliant. You should head to Gravity with six awesome, interactive and competitive games under one roof. With the UK’s first multi-level e-karting, 14 lane immersive bowling and electric gamebox, plus street golf, shuffleboard and digital darts, there’s something for everyone. Whilst enjoying all the games on offer, you can refuel with American burgers, hot dogs and dirty fries, including a whole plant-based menu, or head to the Japanese noodle bar.
💜 Group size: There is no limit as this place is enormous, but we’d recommend groups of up to 6 to participate in the activities together.
If you want to up your game for your team away day or social, get in touch with the Eventify team. We can take care of it all, so all you have to do is decide whether or not to let the boss win!
